Welcome to the Ultimate Frisbee Club

-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
The Club
Founded in 1976, Warwick Bears Ultimate Frisbee Club is the longest surviving team in Europe, and among the oldest in the world. The club is a major player in the Midlands, and has won several national titles in the Open, Women's and Mixed divisions.
Ultimate Frisbee has been governed by BUCS since 2008 - Warwick won the gold medal in the inaugural BUCS season. This year sees the Bears open team finishing 5th in the country both indoors and outdoors.
Warwick Bears are also famous for our packed social calendar, with weekly events for all, organised by our hard-working social secs. Activities range from "circle" in the Union to ice-skating, bowling, disc golf, clubbing and many more.

The Sport
Ultimate Frisbee is usually described as a cross between American Football and Netball. You may not move with the disc, and score by passing it between your team-mates to score in your opponents end zone. The pitch is 100m long, and the sport is non-contact.
Ultimate is played on grass, sand and indoors. We have strong open (men's), mixed and women's teams. We give you the chance to attend tournaments all over the UK and on the beaches of Europe.

WIndoors
Each year the Warwick Bears host WIndoors - an indoors tournament held at the sports centre. Of the 24 teams, the club normally reserves four entries. The majority of teams attending comprise ex-bears who want a shot at the current Bears 1st team.
This year, 2012, its was a huge 24 team tournament with an incredible 16 current or ex bears teams playing. The champions were Team Captains, a team consisting of the last 7 captains of the club. The highest finishing current bears team was Bears 1 who finished 3rd. For full results visit www.warwickbears.co.uk and click on the WIndoors link
In 2009, Bears 1 beat MHB in the final.
In 2010, Bears 1 lost narrowly to Vice in the final. Jim Hancox of Vice was voted MVP of the final.
In 2011, Bears 1 beat MHB in the final. Joe Thompson of Bears 1 was voted MVP of the final.
