· Enhanced cognitive ability – A common technique used in yoga is breathing through one nostril at a time, breathing through one nostril results in increased activity on the opposite side of the brain. Studies have suggested that regular breathing through one nostril may help improve communication between the right and left side of the brain.
· Mood change- Virtually everyone who has practised yoga over a long period of time reports increase in energy levels and a more positive outlook on life.
· Spiritual benefit – Yoga induces relaxation techniques which can then be used to reduce pain when needed, whether physical or psychological such as helplessness and depression.
