What is gliding?
Why you should join:
Where do we fly?
We fly from two airfields: Snitterfield, a small, friendly club just outside of Stratford-upon-Avon, and Husbands Bosworth in Leicestershire, one of the largest gliding centres in the UK. Both are within an hours drive of the university and provide plenty of fantastic aerial views of the British countryside. Both airfields have plenty of qualified instructors to make sure you get a great experience of learning to fly.
Once you've joined the club you will receive our emails with details about every trip we run and how to sign yourself up. We try to have one every weekend, especially over the first term.
We select the first that sign-up, or anyone who has never been with us before to come. We meet at Rootes Reception on campus and transport to the airfield is provided by us.
For everyone who has never been flying before, the day will typically consist of a couple of flights, each with an instuctor who flies the glider allowing you to experience soaring through the sky and then will allow you to take control and see what it's like to fly yourself.
While the club typically takes those new to gliding, we do have some more experienced members and welcome any seasoned professionals who want to come and show us how it's done; some of our members even have PPLs.
