The Riding Club aims to open participation in equestrian activities to people of all abilities and backgrounds. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rider you will find something to suit you here!
Whether you are a member of the riding team or just ride for fun, our weekly lessons at the prestigious Radway Riding School teach basic riding skills, dressage and show jumping. Our three successful teams compete in friendly and BUCS leagues and travel all across the region to ride. The instructor’s rates are reduced for our members, and lessons are friendly, informal and fun!
Last year, we ran a social tour to Spain and this year we went to Prague for four days! We also do a host of other activities including visits to the Your Horse Live and other equestrian events. Socials are run by our two amazing social secretaries throughout the year and they also try and organise visits to other local activities.
We now have a range of safety equipment for the use of all members – therefore members will be able to ride safely without buying the desired safety equipment with tight student budgets! This includes a range of short riding boots and a few body protectors. Hats can be provided by the riding school.
So for the best ride on campus, join Warwick Riding Club!!!

Teams
CONTACT: Ben McClatchie ()
Team trials for the BUCS university team will take place in the first and second week of term 1. Make sure you bring your riding gear so you are able to try out. If you are thinking of trying out for the team you must be able to ride at least a novice level dressage test and jump a course of 8 fences starting at 2’3” depending on what team you are picked for. If you are chosen for one of the teams we expect your upmost commitment to your training otherwise we will be forced to review your position on the team.
**Trials: 2nd October 2-4pm and 9th October 2-4pm**
Please e-mail or visit us at Sports Fair to sign up
Lessons
CONTACT: Aino Vuorio (A-M.F.Vuorio@warwick.ac.uk)
To sign up for the weekly lessons all you have to do is scroll down this page to find the lesson you would like to sign up for (or click the driver link if you wish to drive to Radway!) and click 'Sign Up'. If it is your first time riding (this applies mostly to freshers but of course any new members are welcome) then make sure you send your name and contact number to Alice.

How Much?
£20.50 for NON-DRIVERS
£10 for DRIVERS

This is payable online through the payment links below.
What Level Am I?
BEGINNER
For those who have never ridden before
For those on the lead rein
Learning to walk and trot (establishing the rising trot)
BEGINNER PLUS
Can walk and trot independently (without a lead rein)
Beginning to establish sitting trot and will eventually learn to canter
NOVICE
(used to be called intermediates)
Walk and trot is COMPLETELY established independently
You must be able to canter
You will learn to become more confident riding independently, working towards a more balanced seat and work without stirrups.

Starting to tackle pole work and small jumps (up to about 2'3" or 60cm)
INTERMEDIATE
(used to be called advanced)
Must be balanced in all paces (walk, trot, sitting trot, canter) with or without stirrups.
Can confidently jump (up to about 2'9" or 80cm)
You will learn/establish lateral work and improve the horse's way of going as well as your own
PLEASE DISCUSS WITH THE INSTRUCTOR BEFORE MOVING UP A LEVEL
**Cancellations require 36 hours notice, otherwise you will be liable to pay**
This period allows us to find a replacement for your place and also allows us enough time to liase with Radway who have a 24 hour cancellation notice policy.
Sign up opens a week before the lesson is due to run and closes Wednesday 18:00 before the lesson for all levels. Once the sign up period is over Alice will send a confirmation email to those who will be riding.
NB: On the sign up sheet below it will say the number of places available next to each option (so 4 non-drivers and 1 driver per lesson). It also says either " (+5 reserves)" for non-drivers or " (+3 reserves)" for drivers. A reserve is not a confirmed rider. A reserve will ONLY RIDE IF somebody confirmed as a rider drops out of the lesson. You are not guaranteed to ride if you are a reserve so DO NOT PAY, but still check your emails!
Please remember lessons cannot run if there are no drivers so drivers always have priority.

The links to PAY for the lessons are listed below. PLEASE DO NOT PAY FOR A LESSON UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED TO RIDE!! If you do it can be very hard to re-imburse you.
