Welcome to the University of Warwick Snooker Club.
To those of you joining or rejoining the Snooker Club welcome to another year at one of the best sports clubs at Warwick.
If you're joining us as a fresher this year listen out for our first tournament of the year. The Freshers Tournament is for all newcomers (anyone who hasn't played in it before) and this year will be held on Sunday 7th October, end of week 1, in the snooker room at Westwood. Here you can get to know the club, the way it works and get into some form of competition.
Tournaments
Throughout the year there are many other tournaments including our year long ladder tournament where you can choose your opponent and challenge to be top of the pile. Other tournaments last year included 6 Reds, Giant Pool, Handicap Tournament and our Big Break social.
Players deemed good enough will have the opportunity to represent the University at the annual BUCS tournament - a three-day inter-university snooker tournament which caters for all players. This year we are going to have 3 teams again and so there are again lots of places up for grabs.
Tables on Campus
We have 2 snooker tables on campus, which are located on the Westwood campus (straight past Costcutter and the Teaching Centre, turn right). We also have all the equipment you need. You can practice whenever you want by getting the key to the room from Westwood Games Hall (you have to leave your NUS card as a deposit). And best of all it's only £6 to join for the year. So you get unlimited free practice time for less than what you pay for an hour at Rileys!
BUCS
We're former BUCS Champions and are renowned as one of the best university snooker teams in Britain and one of the most successful sports clubs at Warwick, with some very talented players. Last year the First team made the semi finals of the Team Championship at BUCS, while the Second Team came runners-up in the Team Trophy.
Don't be put off though as we welcome all standards of players at the club; with regular practice you too could soon be representing one of our 3 teams. As well as BUCS, we host the Midlands Cup every year in Coventry and hold our own internal tournaments and ladder competitions. Furthermore, we have various socials throughout the year ranging from meals out to our famous Big Break social.
