Warwick University Swimming and Water Polo
aka WUFF (Warwick University Fish Force)
Welcome to the University of Warwick Swimming and Water Polo Club! (UWSWP). We cater for everyone who enjoys getting in the pool, from beginner water polo players to elite swimmers. We also have other great ways you can get involved in the club: fantastic socials, charity events, inter sports club activities and even our annual domestic and foreign tours! WUFF (Our other name, guess what the double f stands for, go on!) is a friendly, fun club with a big presence on campus. You can make friends for life and we will always make you welcome, whether you're a seasoned veteran or a brand new fresher!
The swimming side of the club caters for a wide range of abilities. This year we will be able to welcome less competitive swimmers to the club for the first time in a special program run alongside Warwick Sport. We also perform at BUCS competitions each year, aimed at competitive swimmers as the standard can be very high! For example, last year there was an Olympic champion, an Olympic silver medallist and a World Record holder in attendance, exciting stuff! For the competitive swimmers who don't want to commit to that level, we also compete in the Midlands League, a fun, low level gala against our neighbouring universities. Come down to one of the taster sessions to meet us, have a swim and find out more!
The water polo side of the club is very lively and welcoming towards anyone who wishes to join, from members who have played for their country (Our Men's Captain played for Hungary!) to those who are complete beginners. After all, it is the people that make this great club what it is. Water polo as a sport is fast paced and a great way to keep fit whilst having an active social life. We enter many competitions to provide plenty of match play for all. This year we are hoping to potentially attend a tournament abroad, as WUFF is really broadening its horizons this year.
The club has been a key part of our time here providing fun, fitness, life long friends and support. The club will become your extended family, and we hope you'll join us too. So what are you waiting for? Jump in!

Congratulations on getting a place at Warwick and thanks for your interest in our Swimming and Water Polo Club!
Here at Warwick we cater for all abilities and levels of commitment and as we are essentially two sports in one, if you don't like one you can always try the other! So make sure you join online here or come to see us at the Sports Fair on the first Tuesday of term in the Sports Centre where our jovial Exec will welcome you!
Check the events for the dates and times of both the Swimming and Water Polo Taster Sessions, which will be confirmed in the coming weeks! You can pick and choose which date and time is best for you so you don’t miss out! If you are unable to make any of the Tasters, just come along to one of our timetabled sessions and introduce yourself to the coaches and/or Exec. We’d be happy to help!
Whether you are feeling competitive or not, so long as you like chlorine we have something for you. From those looking for a good time and to keep fit right up to the more competitively minded and national level competitors, this is the club for you. Swimming competes in two major BUCS competitions and one main team event each season as well as various other galas. Water Polo has three teams, two male and one female and compete in a knock out cup as well as a league-based championship; all of our teams average a game a week during Terms 1 and 2.
Being such a diverse club, we keep our sense of unity by being one of the biggest and socially active clubs on campus! From regular socials and impromptu gatherings to our two tours a year, there’s something for everyone. Mini Tour in Term 1 is a short visit to an undisclosed UK destination and Main Tour at the end of Term 2, usually during the first week of the Easter vacation is a 5-day exploration of some European hub. Past destinations have included Barcelona, Tenerife, Venice, Dublin, Prague, Malta and most recently Budapest. They’re not to be missed! Our regular socials can be anything from visits to restaurants, to a full-blown fancy dress escapade, one of which is our infamous Kit Social… We’ll leave you to guess the dress code!
With one of the largest membership bases on campus, a wide and varied range of social activities and more chlorine than you could shake a stick at, what more would you want from a sports club? If you have any questions please get in contact with us via any of the methods on our contact page.
We hope to see you soon!
