EURO 2012 FIXTURES
The Warwick Euro 2012 Tournament saw 16 of Warwick's finest 5-a-teams battle it out for ultimate glory.
Group A was the tightest group where Russia prevailed as group winners beating a strong looking Greece side in the final group game.
Group B was pretty straight forward for Germany with some resounding victories. Denmark v Germany was a cracker with Germany just doing enough.
Group C was all about Spain and with the Irish sneaking 2nd spot. This group also had the dullest game with a 0-0 draw between Croatia(who were sporting an excellent kit) and ireland. James Proctor was more than happy joining the clean sheet club though.
Group D Ukraine were becoming clear favourites after smashing everyone in the club. Matt Thomas's France would clinch 2nd spot at the expense of England. Sweden found things hard but enjoyed themselve nonetheless.
Quarters - In the tighest quarter final Russia overcame Denmark 2-1. Greece were simply too good for Germany. Spain would prove why football is a better sport than tennis against France(Tennis Centre). Ireland's luck ran out against Ukraine.
Semis - Spain's passing was evident and star man Dom Easter caused Greece many problems. Greece's run came to an end as the Spanish would reach the final. Ukraine were outstanding against Russia and brushed them off easily to set up a mouth watering final.
Final - Harry Allen had but together quite a squad for this tournament and they looked clear favourites but they were up against a team that included members of the university mens 1st football team Benji Thompson and Joe Bloomfield. Spain had a sluggish start and Urkaine capilised racing into a 3-0 lead. Spain finally woke up getting two back including a brilliant effort from Dom Easter. Easter them came close hitting the post but Ukraine were to score again and finally kill off Spain's challenge.
Winners - Ukraine - Thoroughout the tournament their passing and positioning was unreal. Deserved winners.
Special mention to Germany who won the best kit.
