COACHING

A number of Warwick Sport club use coaches on a regular basis. These normally fall into 6 catagories:
 

- Self Employed External
- Self Employed Student (UOW)
- Self Employed Staff (UOW)

- Volunteer External
- Volunteer Student (UOW)
- Volunteer Staff (UOW)
 

Warwick Sport encourages Clubs engage the services of coaches for their sports. All Club coaches must be registered and approved by Warwick Sport.The Club benefits from this greatly; it gives the External Coach free access to the Sports Centre for coached sessions. It also helps the Warwick Sport maintain the highest possible standards of coaching throughout the University.

Coaches are approved (and need to be reapproved) at the beginning of each academic year. A coaching pack is available from the Warwick Sport Office or click here. All coaching packs must  Warwick Sport will always assist Clubs that wish to find coaching to do so. If you require help, please contact the Warwick Sport Office.

ALL clubs must contribute 50% of the budgeted amount of the payment for coaching services. It is the club Treasurer's responsibility to collect and pay in the contributions on a regular basis. Under no circumstances should your coach receive these contributions directly as part of the payment for their services, neither should club pay any additional monies to coaches over and above their agreed hourly rate.

It is the responsibility of the Club President to make sure that coaches are qualified to a sufficiently high standard to ensure your members are coached safely. If you have any doubts about the qualifications required, you should contact your national governing body for advices or speak to the sports officer or sports development co-ordinator. All coaching packs should be passed to Warwick Sport by the clubs, not the coaches themselves. If you have any problems with your coach please contact us. 
Before any coaching can take place by any coaching, the following documents should be submitted by return of post, email, or through a club representative:
 
·         A signed copy of the Service Level Agreement (within Coaching Pack)
·         Completed Contact Information Form, including tax number
·         Copies of Certificates or evidence of current, relevant qualifications 
·         Current Insurance Certificate for Professional Liability (unless Volunteer Student Coach)
 
Volunteer Student Coaches are required to have Professional Liability insurance as well as a coaching badge for the sport(s) being coached.
